Protein for the Soul
What’s in a word? Well, it depends on the word, how it’s spoken, and how it’s heard. What’s in THE Word? Everything. It’s our sustenance. Protein for the soul, and for me, a continual anchor for my soul. I decided to share my Top Ten (more like my favorite ten) Bible verses that have given me hope, strength, and encouragement in my life. Read these slowly, and I’d love to hear back from you with a few of the verses that have helped you in your own life. Here goes: 1. “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 2. “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13 3. “Whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11 4. “Though he slay me, I will hope in him; yet I will argue my ways to his face.” Job 13:15 5. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 6. “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12 7. “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31 8. “You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. Our God and Father abounds in glory that just pours out into eternity.” Phil 4:19 9. “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4 10. So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.” 2 Cor. 4:16-18 Msg. That’s it friends. May these words find their way deep in your heart, mind, and spirit. There’s No Place Like Hope, Stefan
