God’s Texting Again
Someone asked me the other day, “Stefan, do you realize that in ten years you’ll be sixty?” This person used to be my friend. The answer of course is…no. I had never, ever, ever thought of that. Seriously, it kinda bothered me. I feel like I’m supposed to run out and get a sports car, or a motorcycle, or parachute, or at least play golf. Maybe I should make a bucket list or something. Then I realized the issue. The real question has nothing to do with turning fifty; it has everything to do with,”God, what do you have for me to do for YOU today?” My friend (a different one) always says, “If you ever wanna make God laugh, show Him your plans.” Well I definitely wouldn’t have planned that I’d be a fifty year old single dad. Yet I trust God’s plan is perfect, and with my health and three wonderful kids, I feel the joy of God more than ever.
I’m not the greatest planner (I’m more comfortable writing out the plan after it’s completed) but I’m totally sure of 2 things: 1. God’s plan is better than mine and 2. If I follow Him, I’ll find more life, hope, peace, and abundance than I’d ever find, trying to navigate life on my own. HOW DO I KNOW THIS FOR SURE? Well, first, I get lost even with my GPS, and someone on the phone explaining directions to me and secondly…God guaranteed it. Check this out:
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health; your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. (Prov. 3:5-6 ~The Message) Who doesn’t want bursting barns and brimming wine vats?
We’re about to start a sermon series called, “Call Waiting,” at church. I’m really looking forward to it. Reminds me of a Christian version of the question you heard when you were a kid, “So, what do you wanna be when you grow up?” There’s a plan and a call on your life my friend. Today there’s a mission He has for you that no one else can do. You have a call waiting. God’s cell may be calling yours right now? If you put Him on hold, guess what? You got it…He’s calling back. He’s got you on speed dial too. Oh, and whether you have an iPhone or not, that’s right, God does Face time. And if that’s not enough, remember, He wrote the first text message just for you: )
