You Have Weapons
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Cor. 10:4
As I sat down on my back porch to write this blog, I heard a clicking sound. It repeated over and over in rapid succession. I looked over to my left to see 20 men and women drawing their guns, taking a shooting stance with guns pointed in my direction, and then repeatedly doing the same motion as an instructor looked on.
You see, my house is backed up to the Wake County Police Training Academy. I see new recruits marching, running, training, performing mock arrests on the top of squad cars, and, like today, practicing to see how fast they can draw their weapons. Because of a few bushes, I don’t think they could see me on the other side.
This scenario reminded me of a very powerful truth that I clearly heard from the Lord recently. Although not audibly, I felt Him say to me, “Stefan, you’ve been placing a greater emphasis on people being targets rather than people using the weapons in their hands.” You have weapons to fight with. What you have in Jesus puts you on the offensive, not only the defensive, resisting the attacks of the enemy. Kinda reminds me of the Star Wars idea, “Luke, use the Force.” Pale illustration, I know, but here’s the truth, “Greater is He who’s in you than He who’s in the world.” 1 John 4:4 We’re warriors on a battleship, not tourists on a cruise ship!
Need a reminder of a few of your weapons today? I do!
~ Speak the name of Jesus. Over and over. Say it again and again. There’s power like none other in His name.
~ Sing that song declaring our God as awesome…and mighty…He’s faithful. Now watch the enemy flee. Your enemy hates praise and wants to keep you silent. So, shout!!!
~ Confess the Word. “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” We overwhelmingly conquer through Christ who loves us.” The Word is your sword, and it’s unbeatable. Claiming His promises silences the lies of the forces that want to keep you in fear, bondage and insecurity. “For You, Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor will you encompass him as with a shield.” Psalm 5:12
~ Declare the truth of who Your God is and who He has created you to be. “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you go upright.”Ex. 20:2 Your destiny is bright, and your salvation is sealed. No one will pluck you from Your Father’s hand.
Far too many believers are living accused, fearful, condemned, and more in the land of surviving than in the land of overcoming. YOU HAVE WEAPONS! Use Them. You’re not a punching bag for the enemy, you’re a child of the King! ~ Lastly, remember to forget about yourself. Look for the opportunity to bless somebody. The Bible says of those who overcame that they did it because “they loved not their lives even unto death.” Their constant song was “I give myself away so You can use me.”
Funny thing about the officers forty steps from where I sat, their guns weren’t real…yet. They’re fake. These are guys in training, but your weapons are real. Use them. I’d love to hear back from you if this word was for you.
